てみる (te miru) and てみます (te mimasu) means “try to”

てみる (te miru) and てみます (te mimasu) are used to express that there is an effort to do something.  In English, we say “try to”.

マラソンをはしてみる
Mareson o hasshte miru.
I’ll try to run a marathon.

Verb (てform) + みる
     
Casual Form
Verb (てform) + みます
     

 

日本語にほんごおしてみます
Nihongo wo oshiete mimasu.
I will try teaching Japanese.
